I am more concerned about some of the rentals and renters in the neighborhood and the perception that Shaker has a high crime rate. With one murder over the past few years, a body being “dumped” a block from my home as well as SWAT being called a couple of years ago to our area and the fact that hardly a month goes by that muliple police cars are called for some sort of trouble the area is gaining a reputation of NOT a good place to live. I am also concerned about the issues with Shaker Schools being deemed at risk by the State of Ohio due to the lack of bringing the poorer students up to standard. It is a struggle to maintain our home, pay our outrageous property and city tax and have this crap go on. I will most likely leave Shaker when the home sales market improves.

I too am concerned about some of the renters in the neighborhood. I feel that when you allow the county to place renters in your home, you are not aware of who you are renting to and you may end up renting to someone who will negatively affect our community.
As for the school system, too many of our children are falling behind. Some parents feel that all they have to do is put their child in the Shaker school system and that’s it, but that’s not all to it, we still have to get involved and make sure our child is doing what he/she is supposed to do. If there were more parent involvement then maybe more of our children would meet the state’s requirements.
I am in favor of improving Gridley Triangle. I would like to see something put in for the children, but at the same time I am concerned that it may bring more trouble if not properly controlled.
