Families mourn loss of children
With heavy hearts, the Ogbuji and Ikpia families of Greater Cleveland announce the passing of their daughters: Imose Esosa Ikpia (6), Chikaora Credell Zion Ogbuji (2), and Anyachiemeka Chibuzo Anastar Ogbuji (14 months), victims of the tragic house fire at 3711 Rawnsdale Street in Shaker Heights, December 1, 2007. Imose and Chikaora died of smoke inhalation, while Anyachiemeka succumbed last evening (12/4/07) following a valiant struggle for her life.
In a statement from the Paternal Grandfather, Dr. Linus Ogbuji he shared, Imose Esosa (EE-moh-say) was the daughter of Roschelle Ogbuji ( Oh-BOO-jee) & Dr. Victor Ikpia. Imose’s first name stands for “Beautiful” and her middle name means “Gift of God”-she was a beautiful Gift of God, exceedingly bright and most popular at her school, Lomond Elementary of Shaker Heights. Chikaora, abbreviated “Chika”, and Anyachiemeka (”Anya”) were daughters of Roschelle & Chimezie Ogbuji, and granddaughters of Dr. Linus and Margaret Ogbuji of Shaker Heights. All three children were granddaughters of Edward and Starling West of Kansas City, Missouri. Chikaora (CHEE-kah-aw-rah) means “God is greater than the community”, while Anyachiemeka (Ah-nyah-CHEE-eh-meh-kah) means “God’s vision has done well for us”.
Imose referred to the trio as the “Kingdom Kids”, a name deriving from their passion for praise and worship at their mother’s Abundant Life International Church on Wilson Mills Road. The family has set up a charitable trust in the name of “Kingdom Kids” at KeyBank. In the hopes that some good may come out of this great tragedy “Kingdom Kids” will help provide families information and support to help protect young children from the hazards of house fires.
While the family is mourning the loss of these three beautiful girls they had the opportunity to save other lives through the courageous gift of organ donations of baby Anya’s organs to LifeBanc. In a statement from Karen Baer, Chief Clinical Officer of LifeBanc she stated: “There are no words I can express to honor these children.” LifeBanc is a non-profit organization designated by the Federal government as an organ procurement organization that serves Northeastern Ohio. Nearly 100, 000 people are waiting for a life savings organ in the United States and 1,500 are in Northeastern Ohio.
Funeral service for the three sisters will be held on Saturday, 8th December, at the First Baptist Church on Fairmount Blvd. located at 3630 Fairmont Boulevard, Cleveland, Ohio. The wake will be held at 10:00 a.m ., with services starting at 11:00 a.m. The Interment will follow immediately at Cleveland Memorial Gardens located on South Green Road.
In lieu of flowers or any other such gifts the family kindly requests donations to the Ogbuji Family Fund, set up to assist Chimezie and Roschelle in rebuilding their home so they might begin the process of healing. The fund is being managed by KeyBank.
The bereaved families wish to take this opportunity to thank the individuals and communities who have reached out to them, as well as the medical and emergency services personnel who attended to the needs of the girls. They are overwhelmed with so much support from friends, colleagues, acquaintances, corporate entities, and even total strangers.
Any funds received by the Sussex Association - Ogbuji Family Fund will now be forwarded to Key Bank. If you would like to make a contribution, please send it to any Key Bank, per the families wishes
