    Rawnsdale Fire Update

    Dear Lomond neighbors,

The Lomond Association Executive Committee met last night to determine a course of action for our Association to support the Ogbuji family.  After speaking with the Mike Hoffman (Sussex Association President), Sue Alig (Lomond School Principal), and Chief Barnes (Fire Chief), we have determined that money for funeral expenses is an immediate need and an easy way for people to help.  As time goes by, we anticipate the family may be in need of meals, donations of clothing, furniture, household items, or other services, but these things may be more helpful in the coming weeks.

Therefore, we have decided on the following course of action

    1.  For those who wish to provide immediate assistance, please send tax-deductible contributions to the fund set up by the Sussex Association:

         The Sussex Association–Ogbuji Family Fund
         c/o Mrs. Margaret Dobbins
         3632 Rawnsdale Road
         Shaker Heights, OH  44122

    2.  We will send a flower arrangement to the hospital where their youngest child is in critical condition.  The card will convey the support and sympathies of the Association, provide a general offer of assistance and a way for them to contact our Association with any specific needs.

    3.  If any Association members know the family personally or know other neighborhood residents who do, feel free to contact us regarding specific help that we might be able to provide.  We will communicate any further information about the family’s needs as it becomes available to us.

    4.  We will designate time in the agenda of the next Lomond Association meeting (7-8:30 P.M. on January 10th, 2008, Lomond auditorium) for discussion and organizing additional assistance efforts (such as meals or other donations).  We will keep the names of anyone who has volunteered their assistance and may call upon them to help us organize these efforts.

In this time of grief, thank you for your outpouring of support and showing that Lomond is a community that cares.

    Sincerely,

    Brian Yusko, Association President
on behalf of the Executive Committee
