The Code of Regulations passed! The vote was 51 in favor and 0 opposed. We are now able to move forward with elections!
Upcoming Calendar
- Sept 17 (next Monday) 7pm at Lomond School - this meeting replaces the Sept 13 (Thursday) meeting. In this meeting we will report on what the Association has been up to and also gather officer nominations for the upcoming election (more on this below)
- Sept 20 (Thursday) 7 pm at the Shaker Community Building - Foreclosure Forum featuring Cuyahoga County Treasurer Jim Rokakis and Ed Kraus from the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Ohio.
- Oct 6 (or thereabouts) - the Association Newsletter will be distributed with profiles of candidates running for Association positions.
- Oct 11 (Thursday) 7pm at Lomond School - Election of Officers.
There are six positions available for you or some other civic minded individual to consider. Here is a list of these positions and a description of each:
President - is the chief officer of the Association and shall perform all duties incident to that office. The President of the Association shall preside at all meetings of the Association. He/she shall direct the affairs of the Association in conjunction with the Executive Committee ( the Executive Committee consists of all six positions currently being filled plus the chairs of Standing Committees and up to 10 ‘Members-At-Large’).
Executive Vice President - performs the duties of the President in the absence of the President. The Vice President shall assist the President and preside over meetings in his/her absence. He/she shall perform duties appropriate to the office as requested by the President.
Vice President of Community Affairs - overseas Community Relations, while assisting the Association’s President as the Association’s liaison to local government and other community entities within the Shaker community. This officer will be responsible for representing Lomond Association at community and governmental meetings, advocating for the Association’s interests at the direction of the Membership and Executive Committee.
Treasurer - is responsible for receiving and disbursing all funds of the organization and maintains the official membership records. He/she shall present financial statements to the Executive Committee and the membership as requested and an annual financial statement at each Annual Meeting. At least 30 days prior to the date on which the annual statement is due, the Treasurer shall submit the report for audit to a committee of three appointed by the Executive Committee.
Recording Secretary - records and maintains the minutes of the Association and acts as the “custodian” of the Code of Regulations. The Recording Secretary is required to create and submit an electronic record of Association proceedings to the Shaker Public Library each year at the Annual Meeting. This officer is also responsible for assisting the Election Committee with logistical tasks during an election cycle.
Corresponding Secretary - assists the President with all the Association’s correspondence and is responsible for notifying members of meetings. The Corresponding Secretary shall maintain a Post Office Box to which communications may be addressed and manage Association’s email and website correspondence. The Corresponding Secretary shall also be responsible for developing Association meeting agendas in collaboration with the Executive Committee and the membership.

We are moving forward and coming together. A few highlights worth mentioning
- Our Ice Cream Social was a huge success drawing hundreds of Lomond residents together.
- Lomond’s representation at the last City Council meeting was considerable and vocal.
- Our efforts on the Foreclosure issue are attracting attention from City Hall and City residents - check out our display at the Main Branch of the Shaker Public Library
- We have a grant pending that could bring in up to $35,000 for our neighborhood.
- Our mailing list has ballooned to over 350 - our paid membership has doubled over the past two months to over 60
- people from all across the neighborhood are getting to know each other
