Lomond Community Association Meeting, Thu. July 12th, 7:00-9:00 PM

    Fellow Lomonders,

We have a Lomond Community Association Meeting scheduled on Thursday, July 12th from 7-9 pm at the Shaker Community Building.  This meeting will begin promptly and be kept rolling efficiently, as we have lots to cover.  Dues will be collected, so if you want to join the association, please bring $10 cash or a check (payable to Lomond Community Association).

    The agenda is as follows:

    1. Introduction - including any general announcements
    2. Committee Reports (discussion and votes as necessary)
    3. Break out into committee groups for a working session
    4. Committees adjourn before 9 PM

    Thanks,
    Karen Nordstrom, 991-5144
    Steering Committee Member

I am happy to see so many people interested in the future of our neighborhood and am amazed at the hard work being put forth by so many. However it was unfortunate that so much time was wasted discussing the proposed ground rules of the association even though we were all informed that hard copies were available and that the document was online for review. This was inconsiderate of those in attendence and the committees. I must say that I even though I had looked forward to attending this meeting I left early because of this!

The agenda for the July 12th Lomond Meeting was set by the Steering Committee. We had agreed that association participants needed to hear what was going on with the committees. We specifically decided that the Leadership Committee needed more time to present and potentially might need to request voting on parts of the code of regulations. We had allotted that group a lot more time than other committees. All committee leaders were informed about the shortened time for committees to meet in breakout groups. Both the Steering Committee and the leadership committee felt it was important to give a summary of the code of regulations and allow for a few questions at the meeting. Most of all input on the revision of the code will come from electronic methods or phone calls. There will be a vote at the next meeting to approve the code in order to have it in place for the September Nominations.

I understand that some residents are more interested than others in the creation of the code, however it is something that is better followed when all parties understand and agree to it. All committees are welcome to meet at additional times beyond what the Steering Committee has planned, in order to make progress on its projects. General association meetings will probably continue to allot more time for general business and less on committee work, as the association becomes larger and involved in more areas.
